Hello,
I too had a dell M1710, and its video card (a nvid 7900 GTX )burned out. After arguing with tech reps and supervisors for over a month dell decided they would send me some sort of alienware computer. Here are the specs posted on the dell web site. (actually very similar to what the guy who started this thread is getting/got but he gets better video cards)
224-5967Black Metallic310-0173Airborne Documentation, System Exchanges,Factory Install
313-7711Slot-Loading Dual Layer DVD Burner (DVD+-RW, CD-RW)
317-0818Intel Core2 Duo T9600 2.8GHz (6MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
317-08564GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1066MHz 2 x 2048MB
320-07601GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4870
320-814017.0in, WUXGA,LCD,ANW
330-0171S and P Drop-in-Box Marcom forDHS Notebooks
341-0005160GB 7,200RPM (xMB Cache) w/ Free Fall Protection
421-0726ALIENFX BLUE
430-3558Internal 300Mbps Dual-Band a/g/n 2x2 MIMO
430-0628Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR
(I left out some things like the win 7 upgrade & the power thing and the time zone all that BS stuff)
My questions are:
1. Is this an alienware m 17x or just an old refurbed m17?
2. Does this system have an esata port?
3. It took dell from aug 19 2009 (when they received my dead M1710 computer) to nov 1 2009 (when they shipped my replacement computer). Should I demand something more for all that time I went with out a computer? I know I was a thorn in Dells side for that whole time. I was calling them atleast 2 times a week to make sure that they had not forgotten about me.
4.What external Hard Drive dock should I get to place my old compys HD in?
Thanks
