Unfortunately then it won't ship so soon. After the build stage is the boxing stage. This stage take 2-4 days because part of that stage is flying the system over from China to the local hub in the US. When you are in boxing stage you'll know it's close.

Yeah, I just called again, and the automated system said its still in the build stage. While yesterday they had a ship date, today the automated system said it had no further information and would not give me ANY ship date... I believe you are correct. Looks like I will be waiting longer than expected... DAMN YOU DELL!!!!

I'm going to try to keep the original post in this thread updated with the latest information regarding this system to help out fellow owners. Should be fun!

If you're in build right now you should be in boxing by next week and shipped a few days after that. It would only take as long as Oct 28th if they found a problem with the system during testing. There's actually a youtube video out there from Dell and a wiki on this whole process.

Update on my system...

Monday will be a full month since ordering the system. I talked to Dell to find out what's up and they said they would expedite my order and ship it free next day. Hopefully I will have it by next week.

My first one took 2 weeks and I ordered it the day it was released. I didn't think this one would take longer.

It would have been nice if they had these with the I7 CPU now lol

Early results are in as people have started receiving these systems and they are coming up as GDDR3 and not GDDR5. Kind of takes some fun out of it.

I don't know if I want my system now.

I just seen the thread! That is crazy!

Look at the graphics options!

"CrossFire™ Dual 1GB ATI® GDDR3 Mobility™ Radeon™ HD 4870"
"Double your graphics performance with dual NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 280M GPUs!"

Yep, I saved a copy of my invoice showing GDDR5, there is a nice letter on consumer reports from a lawyer using Amazon's advertising against them. I suggest everyone save a picture of Dell's advertising, and there invoices.

What do you think, about a year for a class action?

Ordered on 9-30, est. Delivery was Oct 21....wake up this morning to a delay order email, new est. Date is nov.11. Disappointed to say the least. And what's this I hear about false advertisement? Gddr3 instead of gddr5?

Things don't add up yet. I'm trying to get a hold of the ATi part number for cards. I'm wondering if anyone even verified if they're even 4870s to begin with. It would make a little more sense if they were 4850s. How many different versions of the 4870s really exist? There's a missing link in this mystery and I want to find it!

Well here's a update on my situation. I called Dell this morning and after going through 5 or 6 people I got to talk to a tech I think, I asked if the cards in my laptop were gddr3 or 5, he told me my cards were gddr5. He also told me that this order was about to be done actually and gonna ship soon, maybe next week. Said a few words about world of Warcraft...lol and Said he would actually try and pull a few strings to get it out asap. Hope this is all true and will update accordingly.
