A notebook cooler should get you past 3.07. What is your multi/fsb/mem?
11.5x I did do 3.2ghz. With 12x but it fail. I also did 9.5x and 1333fsb and failed. I did your settings and dial.

Added some minor updates. Hoping this thread doesn't become forgotten.

@NWGuru:

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Processor
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Intelppm

In both these locations there is a "Start" string set to 3. Change it to 4 then reboot."

So this tweak enables me to OC my CPU higher and suppresses BSOD`s, right?

Blue sreens are really nasty but i always regarded they somehow as a warning that I oc`ed the CPU way to high. Say, like a fuse. Is there a higher risk that the CPU gets damaged when OC`ing with this tweak done?

Mimpi manis.

In this case it's really the power management driver crashing. Obviously it's up to you whether or not you want to do it. I only do it myself while benchmarking.

Looks like I'll be selling my M17x and just keeping the M17. This thread has been fun.

Hey I just got the M17X out here in Iraq a couple days ago. Im trying to get this thing to perform good and I have read this whole thread pretty much. I just have a couple questions:

What kind of temp range should I be looking for on the CPU's? Im wondering what temps could possibly damage it.

Is there some program out there that can OC the GPU's without flashing the bios?

I'm really new to this OC stuff so any other info could really help. And as far as the info on my computer I ordered it from Dell and about 4 weeks ago it had all the top of the line stuff. QX9300@3.00, and the Dual ATI 4870 crossfired.

NWGuru, I used all your tips on the overclocking part. Multipliers is at 10, and both memory frequency and fsb are set at 1200. So I got the 1:2 ratio. Anyways any info will help. Thanks

40C. 100C it will start down-clocking itself to try to prevent damage.

I haven't found one. Seems to be locked out from Windows.

Get a notebook cooler like the Cryo if you plan on OC'ing. If you plan on pushing it hard you need to find some type of refrigerated cooling. I'm assuming in Iraq it's pretty hot so that will limit you. If you plan to flash your cards don't touch the voltage unless you really like to test. You should be able to get 650 on the core and 1000 on the memory without much of an issue.
