He also told me that this order was about to be done actually and gonna ship soon, maybe next week. Said a few words about world of Warcraft...lol and Said he would actually try and pull a few strings to get it out asap. Hope this is all true and will update accordingly.
Yes, when talking with Dell they all say the same thing that they are GDDR5. Ask the person you spoke with to get a hold of the numbers on the memory chip for the cards. Tell them you have a friend who just received the system but the memory is reading as GDDR3 which is true.

Well i'm not sure why I thought they were gddr5.Going back and looking at my order gddr5 wasn't even mentioned.I got a call back from Dell and they told me that the cards are infact gddr3. He also told me that if I wanted to change the cards to nvidias 280sli that there about 100 dollars cheaper and there's a 200 dollar promotion discount ATM,and he would give me free next day air. What do you guys think? Stick with ati or go with nvidia? I want the best card I can get but all my research doesn't seem to lean me one way or the other.

I'd go with the 280's. But the Invoices of the people that have bought the ATI cards say GDDR5. They are trying to cover up their mistake now.

It's a good way to get more money off the system when it arrives.

Why would you change it? The 280s are also GDDR3.
thought the 280s were slightly better, and better/updated drivers.Plus it was 300 dollars cheaper going with the 280s

The advantage of the 280s is better driver support and the ability to use Hybrid SLI. The ATi should be better as far as overall performance is concerned.
meh...oh well.Saved me 300 dollars none the less

That was the point of complaining afterward...then you get it for the same price.

On desktops maybe, but on notebooks, both these cards are running neck in neck at the moment if the 280 is being SLI configured.

cheers ...
