NV5214u Latest BIOS

My brother brought two nv5214u laptops. One has a v1.08 bios and one has v1.10. The gateway website only has v1.03 for download, and their chat people say there is nothing higher than v.1.03. I went to Bestbuy today and the display model had v1.05. Does anyone know the latest version, and where it can be downloaded?

Thanks in advance

Not officially via Gateway site. They have been pretty lame with the latest models so far. Just like the P series can have up to 4 different BIOS version depending when you buy them.

Unless that there is an issue that requires a BIOS update, I would not be concerned with it, yet.

cheers ...

My brother claims that he downloaded the v1.03 bios update thinking it was needed. Only after the update starts and there is no way to stop it, did he realize he was replacing v1.08 with v1.03. Anyway to get v1.08 or the latest?

The higher the version number, the newer the BIOS. But then again, if you experience no issue, just leave and stay with what you have.

Older thread but same issue here.... Right click>Edit on the batch file in Vista runs the file, I got click happy and off it went. My Bios was v1.08 and it's been successfully downgraded to v1.03 as well. The new laptops at Best Buy are Win 7 with a Bios v1.12. Tech support was lucky to barely speak my language and didn't offer anything higher than the v1.03 as posted. I'd appreciate it if someone could back up their v1.08 and post it somewhere if possible. From a Gateway to a Gateway, shouldn't pose any license or rights issues I wouldn't think.

This started out as an attempt to see if a different Bios supported hardware virtualization on the Gateway NV52. Is it an option on the newer Bios vers? Can a Bios be modified to add the support?

Thanks guys, great site.
