I have an advent 7083 and the power supply went,,So i bought a new charger it booted the laptop up but was not charging the battrey,, So i thought it was that the charger was powerfull enough to power up the laptop but not to charge the battrey ? So i took it to the pc workshop were i took bought the charger and they tested a few other chargers init and said it was the battrey,,,So i bought a battrey off the internet and it is doin exaclay the same thing as before but when i first put it in it shown it as 99% charged,,, could it be the the cuircit thing inside the lappy that has gone as when the old charger went it did blow i think....

Are these parts (charge and battery) OEM? That is where I would personally go for - OEM replacements.

The battery is but the charger is a universal notebook charger

I would get an OEM charger, having too many bad experiences with the universal one myself.

The universal charger seem ok it is a fixed one... not the one were can change them if you get me..I had a universal charger before and that charged the battery fine but...When my mate was on the laptop the fuse inside the charger blew when i took it out the battery had 100% battery and was fine but from then on i got a charger and it would not charge the battery,,,so could it to be with battery cuircit ?

Most, if not all notebook ac adapters have + inner and - outer. I would try an OEM if I am in your position, just to eliminate the adapter issue.

You might want to post (open a thread if needed be) here

Patrick can very well answer your queries on specific batteries issues. I don't think that flashing a BIOS would help much in the circuitry area.

It is the common symptom of a bad DC socket on the laptop, it may need resoldering...
