If you take it off yourself, can we get the brand and model number? This is not good

its a LG GA11N

It just stopped working will not load CDs and when I power on each time it keeps trying to eject a CD which there is not one in there to eject - so something messed up.

Just got a call from the "tech" today setting up a visit for Friday afternoon when I get back from Washington DC

The color schemes can all be setup in the Alien FX software that comes with the unit.

That software lets you setup the various color options for the entire laptop

and they keyboard has 4 defined areas plus the touch pad that can all be setup with different colors

I try to take some shots on the weekend prodiving this "tech" doesn't break my laptop on Friday.

The Win 7 Upgrade shipped form MS today

Also tried the game Crysis on the laptop

Default settings were all High for the game, and it seem to handle the game well.

Definitly noticed the fans kicked into high speed after a min or two.

So it took 3 phone calls to Dell Canada Spare parts and they finally were able to quote me on the J246M 256 GB Samsung SSD drive that was listed on the Dell USA site.

$ 479.99 @ Dell.com

$ 849.49 @ Dell.ca

that's a hell of a mark up

but they have it in stock.

have to think about it

I get get them on Ebay for $ 500.00 or so

Man Dave, the exchange rate is on the Canadian side, so taking that in consideration that is already a good %%% markup from previous year.

Go USA then!

cheers ...

Problem is Dell USA will not sell to me...I would need a US based credit card, I tried Paypal as well.

may have to look into Dell Gift Cards
post #52 of 70
Credit cards companies are robbing customers left and right .. and retailers! They force retailers like DELL in this case not to accept credit cards outside their home office, since it would impose an exchange fee on top of what DELL (passing on to the consumers) would have to pay for the transaction fee.

Family/Friends stateside?

Updated the review a little

Added a second Samsung 256 Gb hard drive, upgraded my wireless card to an intel 5300.

The stock memory sucks for OCing. but I been able to at least get 3DMark066 to run, will post some new benchmarks shorlty
post #59 of 70
How is the Intel 5300 working out so far?
