Gateway EC1803h

Thread Starter
I don't find any threads on this model - I believe it's only available in Canada at this point, but it's the same as the Acer Timeline 1410tz, I believe...Centrino Solo SU3500 processor, 3 GB RAM, 250 GB hard drive...

Anyway, if anybody else has one of these, I have questions:
1) Anybody find a way of enabling hardware virtualization in the BIOS?
2) Anybody running Windows 7 (64-bit) - the power management doesn't seem to be working as well as it could
3) Anybody know of any 3rd-party add-on wireless network/bluetooth modules that could be added (replacing existing built-in module)?
4) Anybody having issues with the finish rubbing off the touchpad?

These are the topics I'd like to discuss if I can find someone with the same machine out there!

The Canadian version does have a better spec in memory than the American one.

1. Hopefully that Acer-Gateway would offer an update to the BIOS to take advantage of the VT capability of the SU3500 CPU

2. Taking that you are running W7-64b, have you tried using the tooling from Vista that comes with the notebook?

3. Not that I am aware off, in replacing the wireless module with a combi wifi-BT

4. I am not familiar with this model with the touchpad finish being rubbed off. But it does get worn out in heavy usage on different brands/models.

Would you care to share a personal review on this new model?

Hope you'll get more inputs soon.
