Congrats

Great news for you... be aware that the 1747s are on heavy backorder. Mine's still in production from 10/12. You'll be lucky to get yours by thanksgiving. At least you have the 1737 to use in the meantime.

Talk do Dell direct yet? That's likely your best source. Everything else is just guessing or based on info that is not pertaining to your situation (I think )

cheers ...

You will have the rest of time that your current warranty has. You can extend it up to 4 years I believe. Wait untill you get your new system. When you speak with them they will tell you a price. Tell them that that is more than you wanted to spend and if they can do better. I did that last time and the price quoted was ~$400. I was able to talk them down to ~$270 and they also sent me a $75 dell dollar coupon.

so this is kinda random but do you think that since this system is going to be new that i can request one of the colors rather than black...like orange or blue?

Does not hurt to ask

cheers ...

so dell still hasnt transferred my warranty to the 1737 replacement...i look online today at the support site and see that my computer has an order...so i go look at it.

its for a 1745 and not a 1747...and they STILL havent transferred the warranty.

so now im on the phone, getting them to cancel that order and do it the right way...why is dealing with india so difficult?

dell is so annoying....i go to look at the support status and see a computer order has been placed....go to the order status:

1. see another 1737 has been shipped today
2. see another 1745 "in production". this is all after i had been assured i would be receiveing a 1747.

what is wrong with this company?

Update: did a dell chat and told them all about my problems...they are going to have a "dell case manager" give me a call tomorrow. if they do not call by 11am i will be calling them directly and doing some yelling....why is it so hard to do something right?
They couldn't even ship a video game system on time for me. I used a coupon then it went on back order 4 times and after 2 months I finally had to file a claim on that charge. Last time I order from dell online, they make good stuff but the company layout is so messed up.

ok they are still trying to send me a 1745. does anyone know the difference between a 1745 and a 1747? i googled it and couldnt see any--like they were released at the same time.

im thinkin of keepin it because theyre including a 1080p HD screen...which is pretty awesome.
My guess is that the 1745 doesn't have the 1GB Radeon card.
My guess is the 1745 is Core 2 and 1747 is i7? The Core 2 does have 1GB 4650 as an option, on i7 1GB 4650 is only option.

This is just a guess as DeLL does not like to use systems full name much. But based on past 15xx looks, what I said is it.
The difference is the chipset. I believe the 1745 is a much older design. Press for the 1747.

FYI DO NOT YELL at the dell people. It is counter productive and they may not help you as much. Just be calm but firm.
i honestly think if you should be happy with getting a dell studio 17 to begin with whether its going to be a core2 or i7 because it is an upgrade over your existing dell.

im pressing for the 1747...they just said to wait and receive the two computers that are still being sent (dont understand why they cant just cancel the order, but w/e)..so ill wait and get them, then send both back and make sure that they get the request right...

they're making me so angy..at this rate i might not get it till christmas or something

what should i do? the 1 advantage i can see is that the 1745 has the HD screen and is brand new, rather than refurbished like this 1737, which also has a bad screen and a keyboard that still isnt good.

I think you should take this and run like hell. It's a huge upgrade for you.
