agreed that you should take it, or else theyll just eventually just issue you a refund for the amount you paid for the system which i dont believe you would want.

especially when your system had an ATI radeon mobility x1400! Grab and run!

wait..do they give you a refund for the price you paid? or the price that its worth now? cus i paid like 1600-2000 for it and that could get me a nice, lighter computer

Woodstock mentioned that he could only get a fraction back, in his case, but we hope that the dear chap can get a good replacement now that he has another represent from DELL.

cheers ...

i honestly think you are better off with the system they offered you, you cant get greedy and keep demanding for a brand new core i7 notebook just because its newer than the 1745 and etc.

there is a difference between a computer that you do not like and a computer that is a not a suitable replacement and in this situation the computer they are giving you great replacement to your e1705.

checked my status just now..computer shipped out today but since im going OOT for thanksgiving tomorrow morning, i wont get it till saturday when i come back...boooooooo

ill let yall know what its like. yesterday the LED NUM Lock light burned out on the studio 1737 they sent me..it honestly has great specs but is a piece of junk.

also, does anyone know if the XPS systems have more USB ports? i was looking at the dell site and it said the 1745/47 had 1 less than the 1737, which has less than the SIX that were on the e1705? i dont use all of them all the time, just wondering if XPS has it cus that does have the subwoofer....

also does XPS have a phone modem? i used to use my e1705 as a fax machine but the 1737 doesnt have one.

How the hell did you get a 174x shipped so quickly? Mine has been on order for over a month, no end in sight...

alright guys, got my new 1745. definetly worth the hassle...this model is so much better in my opinion than the 1737.

also, they didnt send me a return label for the 1737..im assuming its because of the fact that they did the return under the e1705 rather than the 1737.

im not gonna complain...until the bill me..lol

I hope you are kidding. Send the 1737 back.

Because they will charge your card. That would look like a new sale to them.

You would be safe for the moment then, as far as $$ out concern? I would contact them and ask about returning the 1737, since technically it belongs to Dell.

see this is what i figure happened...the took the 1705 back already and the exchange was done on that service tag..so unless someone actually checks the file record then i think ill be good.

i dont really want two big and heavy laptops anyways...lol

Right, if you say so. Dell does have an issue with their paperwork, but it will all catch us all up

So how do you enjoy the new comp so far? Care to give us a personal review?

cheers ...

1745 is so much better than the 1737, even though it has less memory...it could just be a windows 7 vs. vista thing, but this is a nice machine.

Sound: 1745's sound is so crisp and you can really feel the subwoofer doin its job...i tried using skype on the 1737 and had so much trouble hearing the other person...on the 1745 that wasnt an issue

Screen: people actually look like people. the 1080p HD screen provides more color ranges and is significantly brighter and better than the 1737.

General Appearence: dell went back to the glossy exterior for the 1745 and i think its a plus. the 1737 ended up with fingerprints all over it that wont come off easily.

1745 is actually a little thinner and lighter than the 1737. also, the touchpad is HUGE meaning it gives you lots of room to play with the different gestures. however, it can get in the way sometimes when your typing...it makes the mouse jump around.

1 bad thing: theres only 2 "dedicated" USB ports (3rd is the esata). this is down from SIX on the e1705...so ill probobly get a usb hub or something to make up for it.

things i wish it had that the 1737 had: bluetooth (dont have any bluetooth stuff yet but wish i could get it) and backlit keyboard.

overall i am very satisfied.

Seems like an improvement in design and details from the part of DELL. Too many ports and internal devices (BT) could add to heat that they wanted to avoid. Just my observation.

Try submitting an official review here for NBF. You would be the 1st for this model.
