also, they didnt send me a return label for the 1737..im assuming its because of the fact that they did the return under the e1705 rather than the 1737.

im not gonna complain...until the bill me..lol
they will bill you, guaranteed. and if they have no billing info, they will put your warranty on hold. so dont part it out yet

i seem to be the one guy mentioned who got screwed by dell... but yeah, the refund is a pain in the ass, you need to send in your replacement system first and wait, and then who knows how much you will get

Hey yall, remember me? so its been about 4 months since i got this computer and guess what? its broken. it keeps freezing and when i called tech support today they said the motherboard was going bad (i think this is just the answer they go to when they dont know whats wrong) and that it would need to be replaced. after complaining the guy offered a system exchange, but i said no because it would be refurbished since they still make the 1745. therefore my claim was escalated to the corporate level and they should call within 48 hours.

my question: assuming i dont get them to send me a new system (refurbished after only 4 months is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable), should i get the repair (in home, one business day) or should i get a system exchange and get a refurb, which will probably just be broken.

just in case you were wondering, the error in the event viewer is:

The device, \Device\Ide\iaStor0, did not respond within the timeout period.

if you know how to fix this then let me know.

i rolled back the bios version to A01 because it definetly started more often after upgrading to A03.

Go for the in-house repair, at least you don't have to wait long for another "working" system. 4 months old ... that's is disappointing!

so it looks like if you keep escalating your claim in dell you will get a native english speaker who understands the problem and who is actually helpful. a woman from the dell corporate office called me this morning and said that they were sending a brand new system to me (not refurbished, i asked 10 times to make sure)..but she said this would be the last time it would ever happen...seeing that my warranty is up in July ive decided that if it breaks again after that im not going with dell...they are the worst. anyways, lets see what they send me...better be right the first time. i dont have the patience to sit and wait 2 months for a computer like last time.

oh yea, is it justified for me to want to keep my HD from this computer rather than sending it back? ive got some patient info on my computer that does not need to get out...
