HP DV6T - i7 Core = $847.77 - Page 2

Thanks Powerpack... Very usefull info... Yeah I'm going to stick with what HP offer's witch is up to the i7-820QM...

When you say HP has sort of a history of overheating, MoBo failures.

Is it more in older Laptop's model's? Will that be an issue with the DV6T, or it's been fixed and it's got better cooling?

Or with that turbo feature, am I better no matter what to get one of those cooling base and put the laptop on it?

I just saw that Dell got the Studio XPS 16 available with the i7 Quad core. Would that be a better choice you think...?

With a quick search not finding heat complaints. That could be good it could be meaningless as very new. I would feel comfortable getting. It is a new model at least design wise and assume they got the thermal system at least OK as they must of learned from the past. I have no reason to recommend the DeLL over this or vice versa. The cost seems very good.

Yes notebook cooler is never a bad idea. Zalman.

I read part of a very long thread elsewhere and not much bad comment.

The 920 is NOT compatible with the DV6T due to the higher power consumption you will run into clock speed throttling and overheating I highly recommend against getting a processor higher than the 720 as you will gain little to nothing from it.
