Hey guys, long time, no post lol. Anywho, I just installed Win 7 Ultimate x64 on my 6831 FX and of course now my hotstart buttons don't work. I found the registry key for them but it's blank and I don't remember what the values are supposed to read. Anyone able to help me out? I hate having buttons that don't work.

Okay, so after some searching I figured out what I think is the right values, but still no joy. Can someone still running Vista take a look at their registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SYSTEM>CurrentControlSet>Control>MobilePC>HotStartButtons
and tell me what values are listed for HotStartButtons, 1, 2, and 3?

Yeah, that's what I used. I got them to go to Media Center just fine after I realized I was typing it wrong lol. But I can only get them to open WMC. Trying to point them at any other program and they don't work. I usually set the => to Firefox, the music button to Media Player, and "DVD" to Media Center. Now if I try to point them anywhere other than Media Center they don't work. Using the Media Center command switches works to point it at specific parts of Media Center but that's about as customized as I can get it. It's weird.

Re-programming the media buttons to do anything else other than with WMC is gonna be a trick. Search the net some more for it, I was not able to do them myself.

In Vista I had no problem. I could point 'em wherever I felt like. Is it just a 7 issue?

I am not sure. Are you using the same 32 or 64 bits environment, in Vista and W7?

Vista was 32 bit. I'm using 64 bit 7. Under Vista I had the hotstart buttons linked to Firefox, Media Player, and WMC just by linking them to their respective .exe's. In 7 they only seem to work when pointed at WMC + whatever switch.

Right now I have the "=>" to just power up and go to the main WMC page, for the "music" I'm using the /directmedia: music /playallmusic and /nostartupanimation switches to have all my music start playing at the touch of one button (gotta add a open minimized command in there, does it have one?) which is very handy, and "DVD" uses the /directmedia: playdisk switch which is useless since I never actually have a disk in there lol. I'd like to link it to the new internet TV function, more specifically the listing/guide, but haven't figured out how to do that one yet.

Cool stuff. Give us a guide on this, once you figure out all the parameters on Vista and W7. This will be very helpful to others here.
