I'm thinkin to buy a laptop and saw a discount.
Now here are the choices.

ACER AS5739G CORE2DUO T9600 2.8GHZ-4GB-320GB-DVDRW-15.6''CAM-1024MB GT240M-BT-W7PRE = $1.101+TAX

PACKARD BELL TJ65 CORE 2 DUO T9600 2.8 GHZ-4096MB-320GB-DVDRW-15,6''-1024MB GT240-BT-CM-W7PRE = $999+TAX

If you think they are bad or not worth the price u can suggest me another laptop.

Specs are good. I don't know enough about the worth, or what entails in systems delivery in your part of the world to comment on the prices.

The web site you listed is borderline to a volume reseller more than a normal shop, so I removed it as it is being considering spam.

or u think this is better?
asus N51VF CORE2 DUO T9600 2.8GHZ-4GB-500GB-15.6"-CAM-BT-FP-1024MB GT240M-DVDRW-WVPRE

btw will the ddr3 ram on acer make a difference? i mean a huge difference that makes me buy it?

DDR3 makes a difference, but hard to say if it is enough to consider one notebook model to another, look at the difference in price and go from there.

i have to get a laptop in a few hours (before they close) so whats your final words? asus or acer? and why?
ASUS - used it, owned it, proven systems.

BUT:
Acer has been coming up with good quality and models, and has been steadily gaining market share and users acceptance the past year.

THUS:
Your call. Toss the coin

When you get benchmark your RAM I guarantee your DDR3 will be less bandwidth than my DDR2. See sig.

k i didnt buy the laptop. cuz the only reason why i was rushing it was their last day of the discount. But after a little research the prices were not really cheaper than the outside. anyways so i said let me try to get the same specs but from a friend i know.
here's another question.
should i search the same specs? like 2.8 ghz, 4 gb ram and 240m gfx? or something different with a different manufacturers?

What's your price range?

What is bandwidth and what effects does it have? (I'm guessing you're saying your ddr2 is better than ddr3. Did you do something to make it better?)
thanks

You got me sort of. I can run my RAM at 900Mhz. DDR3 in notebooks is almost always 1066Mhz. Higher clocked DDR3 has higher latency's than lower clocked DDR2. 1066Mhz ends up being only slightly faster than 800Mhz because of this. That difference has no real world benefit. Just not enough difference. The only real advantage runs at 1.5v vs DDR2 1.8v.

I do not take DDR3 or DDR2 into much consideration both are fine.

Ah, good point. I've spent some time in Turkey (With the US Air Force @ Incirlik AB) I really liked it there.

As far as spec's go, what you stated earlier is good. However another thing to consider is are you going to be doing a lot of gaming? If so, the GT260 might be a better choice graphics card-wise. Of course, there's the GT280 which is even better, but then you're looking at spending more money to have that kind of performance boost. Processor-wise, you're doing good. I have the T9400 Core 2 Duo in my XPS 16, and it does alright for what I want. (I'm not a gamer though)

I did like the specs and prices of your earlier choices. I think they would do moderate current gaming. I do like the 2.8Ghz CPU here in the States to get the same CPU and 260m I think $1500 about to get the i7 and 280m I think $1800. I thought stuff cost more overseas?

Good luck.

well the latest gfx i have found is 240m. and t9600 cpu. no more than that. also just found 3 manufacturers. asus, lenovo, and acer. is there a big difference in them? i no asus makes all those gfx, and mobos.

@powerpack: well its around them same. $1500 here but as i said only 240m as the latest

If the specs and price are not so far off from each other, take the Lenovo this time. It does have better warranty support than the other 2 in your part of the world, unless you have a local shop that you can trust.

one last thing. can you tell me on which manufacturers i should stay away from and which ones i should buy with my eyes closed?
No I can't. All have such great infrastructure costs they are not trying to offer bad systems. Retailers are more what you must watch for.

That said yea I can give you completely useless info. MSI has a bad quality rap. Is it deserved? I don't know. Acer is low end but has really been moving up. Asus gets warranty complaints. Mostly slow to respond. HP's overheat. DeLL similar. If I have left anyone off the bad list I suspect because I don't know them as well. My main point is any MFG who makes systems if they sell enough will have issues.

Acer, HP and DeLL do not even make notebooks. MSI and Asus do. You really cannot get the answer you ask for sorry.

Most notebooks are re branded Taiwanese models. That is not bad just the way it is. If you want to dig deeper much you can learn but I don't think you need to. Look up ODM's.
