Windows Updates causing IE8 Crashes

Ever since the october batch of monthly Updates were installed and there were 13 of them, I have had constant daily IE crashes.
No way to know which update is causing this problem, Windows Help and Support as usual is of no help ! and I cannot do a system restore it seems to before the date of these updates, altho they say I can create a restore point which I have done, but that doesnt appear on the list of restore points, and I have no way of uninstalling the whole batch of updates, can only uninstall one at a time, Anyone have any ideas on this please, appreciate any advice on a solution. Checking for solutions from Microsoft, as usual, doesnt give anything. They never seem to have solutions these people I have Windows Vista OS.
Thanks in advance for anyones thoughts on this.
Event Log only gives Event ID 1000 and 1001, and on TechNet there are never any solutions for these two Events anyway either !

Can't duplicate your issue tgbrindley. We use the 32Bits and the 64Bits IE8 at work, with the latest updates, and have not experienced any issues, yet.

Can you expand as how/when of the crash conditions?

cheers ...

I have been trying to isolate the problem, it occurs about every 2 hours or so, but it is a bit random, it sometimes happens when I close the browser, at other times when I exit a website, have not as yet been able to notice a definite pattern. The crash is not a complete one, it is just that a window opens up saying that Internet Explorer has stopped working and will close the program. I then close the window and everything is OK, had this problem all the time until IE8 was installed, then it disappeared, I do get a couple of crashes perhaps every 10 days or so, but not everyday, and they don't usually occur until about 3 hours use of the comp. just that my reliability monitor has gone straight down from about 9 to 4.60 in a short space of time, but I am going to try and keep an eye on it and see if I can see a pattern to this somewhere, as it is not completely crashing the computer, but is pretty annoying.

Yes, the cache is cleaned up on a weekly basis, and I have a monthly defrag scheduled which falls on the 15th of each month, that means after the monthly batch of updates have been installed. I have cleaned out all saved passwords and cookies today, and I just done a defrag, so I will see what happens from now on.
Just for the example, I put the comp on today, checked my mail, there was one from NBF, clicked on the link to the forum, and then when I closed it, immediately I got the window come up saying Internet Explorer has stopped working, and I had only just put the comp on, Anyhow, I will see if this situation continues, yesterday there were no crashes, but I was not long on the comp

I disabled all accelerators (except the mail accounts) and still experiencing problems, but not so much as far as I can tell, because I haven't visited many sites these last couple of days, I will just have to keep an eye on it !

I have unchecked the IPv6 box in Wireless Connection Properties, and when I go and check Wireless Connection Details it is no longer listed, altho in Status it is still marked as Limited, so I don't know whether it is disabled or not. Anyhow, it did not stop an IE8 crash a little later on.

Tgbrindley:
I have experienced what you are talking about and may be able to help. I have found from past experiences that this was because IE8 Beta was installed and IE8 was installed over this. My first solution is to download a copy of IE8 to a thumb drive (use chrome of firefox to do this or another machine). I then uninstall IE8 completely then reinstall it from the thumbdrive.

If you have done this, can not do this, do not want to do this route then I suggest trying this:
Go to http://djlizard.net/dial-a-fix/ and download Dial-a-Fix. This works primarily to reset IE7 back to its basics but has fixed IE8 issues in the past. Also download a Flash uninstaller.

Run the Flash Uninstaller first then Dial-a-Fix. When running Dial-A-Fix choose all options. After that is done open up IE and go to Tools --> Internet Options --> Adanced Tab and choose reset at the bottom.

If you are still having errors take a screen shot or post the error that IE gives you.

Thanks,

Darq Nemesis, thanks reply, but I have no time to go into all this technical stuff,,,after all I only get crash messages, the computer does not crash completely, and I have more important stuff to attend to at this moment, also the link u gave me is reported by my McAfee Site Advisor to be treated with caution, as it downloads what some people interpret as adware or spyware.......so please be careful when giving links.....Thanks anyway for your reply....Also I did not have an IE8 installation over an IE8 beta, I never use beta stuff, I let others check those things out first,, thanks

qhn only - Have located in Event Viewer, the fault module for these crashes, which is ntdll.dll, and as that, according to Microsoft, can affect a hell of a lot of things, do not see any solution for that, anyway I am still getting these windows opening saying ie has stopped working, not that it bothers the operation of the comp in any way. I have noticed that it occurs mainly when I close a website or an application.

I would like to address this.
First McAfee Site Advisor deals with alot of false positives. The advisor (Especially if used through Firefox) use to mark even sites such as Norton, Panda, and AVG as spyware. It also marks Spybot, Sysinternals, and NirCmd as spyware. I was handed this link by level two Microsoft support during issues with Internet Explorer when the company I use to work with had issues with software we were developing and how it interacted with Explorer

One question. When you are getting these issues are you using IE8 in compatability mode or is it running straigt as IE8?
Try disabling add-ons one by one.

I was experiencing lots of problems with a customer's computer with Explorer and it turned out that the McAfee plug-in was causing IE8 to crash.

I presume it is running straight, don't get the compatibility mode icon up

OK I will check that out . thanks

I would also manually put in a website that you are having problems into compatibility mode just to try it out. I have found out that Java/Flash sites that were coded for ie7 tend to throw errors similar to what you are describing
