Okay guys. I have read through several posts about the M1730 problems people have been having. This has me very worried because I really don't want my M1730 to die. I have been happy with the machine albeit battery issues (doesn't charge).
Now, a few months ago, I had my 8700's swapped out. No issue. New cards work great. Still upset my old 7900 GS performed just as well, but whatever. Now, a new issue, the laptop won't turn on. I click the power button, and the power LED comes on, but the screen doesn't and then it just powers down. I got in contact with Dell and they are letting me send it in. I am worried at what will happen to my laptop!! I have heard crazy stories, including Woodstock getting his parts switched out even though they are working fine. I am mainly worried about the graphics card.
Although, I did find a temporary solution where I bang (with my hand) the area near the power button (LCD hinge area). And while I bang down, I make sure to hit the power button. And somehow it turned on. But it only lasts for a minute or so before it turns off. But this way I can get the screen on. IDK, I have opened my laptop several months ago to put thermal compound on the processor/graphics, but I really don't want to go through the hassle of opening it, just to see if something got loose over the past few days.
Just thinking aloud really in this post.
