Backward compatibility w/XP in Win 7 Home Premium

I just boght something called the VuPoint Film and Digital Slide Converter, FSC1VPBX, I think the manufacturer is Woot. I didn't notice XP listed in the system requirement until I placed the order and it had been shipped,

Although XP-based, MS FS2 Flight Sim works on Vista, and probably will on Win 7, but I don't know about this scanner I just bought which is made by a third party. While W7 Professional supposedly has an XP emulator, I don't know if the emulator will even be available to W7 Premium users.

Should I just inform the reseller that his scanner is incompatible with my OS, and cancel the order and/or refuse delivery when it arrives?

I would explain the situation and the thinking to the reseller and try to cancel the order.

Thanks for your reply qhn. While I was thinking about how to terminate this transaction, I thought I should comb the ebay feedback on this item for any comments about incompatibility with Vista. I couldn't find any.

A Google search for product reviews turned this uphttp://forums.techguy.org/digital-ph...-solution.html
While the reviewer ran into problems using the supplied driver with Vista, he was finally provided with a better driver by the vendor.

And purely by accident I learned during the Google search that the vendor is VuPoint Solutions, and that the film and slide converter should work in either XP or Vista. http://www.vupointsolutions.com/FS-C1-VP-BX2.asp
which is contrary to the seller's description in the ebay listing http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...4013_W0QQfviZ1

Given that it took until early this year for the vendor to make his product Vista-compatible, do you think there will there be a better outcome if the drivers are loaded into Vista--and hope they'll continue to function properly after the W7 upgrade--or should the upgrade come first? (The W7 upgrade disk arrived today, the gadget won't be here until Wednesday.)

If you are not moving to a different platform - i.e. 32 to 64 bits - most, if not all, Vista drivers will work under W7. An upgrade installation would be best in your case.
