I'm not doing a WinXP version of this driver as I've decided to relegate WinXP driver updates to every OTHER driver. Let's face it, XP's showing its age, and it isn't nearly as important as it once was, especially with Win7 being as good as it is.
I personally would not be upset if you drop XP altogether. New models are coming out, running XP on them is quite backward and you already have many good versions supporting it.

Thanks for the brilliant effort Fenuxx!

thanks for this

Coming out with a new beta basically the same day as Dox said he won't be doing any more releases "for the foreseeable future". A coincidence?

Heh-heh. Anyways, I'm downloading these now and will do some testing tomorrow (Monday) and report back my findings. Thanks for not letting us down, Tony!
OK, I did some testing, and MAAAAAAN are these 100% image quality drivers! I'm not sure if it is because I have been on TweakForce's XTreme-G 190.62's and not on yours for a month or so, but the IQ is simply AMAZING on these!!! I rarely ever see a difference in IQ between drivers, but holy crap I did with these!

Textures were noticeably sharper and clearer, with more detail and depth than I am used to. Everything seems to "pop" more, colors are great, and I am seeing things I didn't see before. I don't know if you changed something with your tweaks, or nVidia did, or maybe some combo of both, but I am in awe of the image quality with these!

But the bad thing is, it seems these are very inconsistent drivers. I seem to get lower minimum framerates, with a lot more dips than the past few drivers I've tested. My Far Cry 2 results had ~13% lower max, ~18% lower average, and a whopping ~50% lower minimums (with more valleys/dips in the graphs, looking pretty choppy)! Company of Heroes was only a tad down in all (min/ave/max), but LOOKED jumpier. TrackMania was also down a couple frames, but oddly seemed smoother than other drivers. Heroes of Newerth ran just as well as it always has (not a very demanding game), but it looked insanely better.

I have a ton of other games I could test if you'd like. So far I am really digging the IQ.

Another bad thing, is these drivers don't like RivaTuner AT ALL, making it crash out. Apparently, everyone else has the same problem as shown in this post on Guru3D's RivaTuner forum. Unwinder found this problem/conflict:

Quote:
"Got some free time to peek into it today. Looks like since 195 series NVIDIA decided to make NVAPI.DLL as a static library for some reason, so attempt to load it on demand and unload when not needed causes it to crash now. Will bypass it by keeping NVAPI loaded all the time when 195 series are detected."
So, there's that.

agreed with XP

Yeah I'm noticing the same thing with performance (and I'm reading similar reports as well). Being that this is the first 195-series driver I've seen, it's not totally unexpected.

Hopefully NVIDIA will do some refining and release a better driver, but it's looking like this is probably a no-go driver. Will keep it up and see what others say though.

Another good thing about this driver is, it runs cool and I can finally overclock my GPU once again.
Will give this beta some tests during the weekend hopefully, Windows 7 has been dicky and not too friendly with me so I'm gonna reformat ASAP.

This is great. Can you put up some numbers just for ideas of what the change is?

With other 19x.xx series drivers, they would run so hot, I couldn't overclock AT ALL! Take "Heroes of Newerth" for example. On stock clocks (600/1598/1500), I'd get GPU temps up to ~79C-84C after playing a few games. With this driver and overclocked to 698/1976/1798, it only got up to ~72C-75C!

wow. I need to test this out with my Gateway when gaming then. We are talking about a 10% drop here.

Finally got windows up and running, I know my results for the old driver, gonna install the rest of the drivers and straight up to this graphic driver and give it a spin. I expect to be quite happy with this release.

Can't wait to see your numbers. I am waiting for my new drive to get W7 sometimes on next week and will install this one.

Been running CoD:MW2 for the last 2 hours, these drivers are quite stable from what I've seen, no random lock-ups, good frame rate, but I can see the unstable frame rate that has been pointed out. It varies a lot but it's not really that noticeable in this game.

Still have to check about temps and do some benchmarking but overall these drivers seem to be doing way better than the previous.

I didn't encounter the desktop freeze in firefox so far so I think that was cleared out. Running on Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I did also run Gamebooster now to free up some ram so some of the frame rate gained could be merit of Gamebooster.

^^ Good news N-Gen

Reporting back for a temperature status, the GPU hasn't gone over 82 Celsius, and is generally around the 72 degree mark. Therefore another piece of evidence to support the post in the first page about lower temperatures. In the other driver I did notice temperature fluctuations without any change in-game, now it seems stable. Loving this driver more every minute that goes by.

See? I wasn't just yanking people's chains, LOL! Glad you have been confirming what I had/have seen.

What are your opinions on image quality? I am still not sure why it looks so good -- whether it was just because I was using a TweakForce driver prior to installing Tony's MobileForce, or if there is an actual improvement in this driver's IQ -- I don't know.
