ok i have a pretty common question about my laptop. i want to upgrade the graphics in the laptop. i currently have a ati mobility x1300 and i do know that is is possible to upgrade to the x1400, but i also found a x1800 for around the same price and was wondering if it would be compatible in my setup.

im running (if it even matters lol) :
t2400 core duo 1.83ghz
2gb ram
windows 7 rc
ati mobility x1300

x1400

x1800

any input would be helpful thanks

there are a few issues I can see with the x1800.

1. Heat pipe layout could be a problem.
2. Mounting screws layout is different
3. BIOS support

You maybe able to fix the first problem

but 2 & 3 are most likely show stoppers for you.

Yeah, that X1800 isn't even going to work. That module has an edge connector on it (hard to make out because the picture is so badly compressed). The X1400 is as good as you're going to get in the E1505.

Well, I can tell you that the performance gain you'll get from an x1400 is very small. I have one and believe me, it's not worth the upgrade from an x1300, unless it's a complete bargain. Like a gift or something. :P
Mine has Windows 7 experience index of 3.4 in Graphics and 3.6 for gaming graphics, with stock drivers.
