no i lost the recovery partition weeks ago. i didn't really create it.

i just ran paragon partition program for hours an when i manually stopped it there was a 15.9gb unallocated so i searched for partition on that one and got the respawn one. but it's like 5:23am so im not gonna mess with it this early. ill try an not mess it up again later today.

BTW, Dell/AW won't give you the respawn disk after you buy the system because it has to be tied to the respawn partition on your system. The way they setup sysprep for the OS is to automatically license and register the OS with Microsoft. So giving you the respawn disk afterward would be the same as giving you an additional Windows license. Came to me in my sleep.

Funny that this (the option to buy) is "still" (?) available on Alienware site. Either they should update it, or they should give customers a chance to order the recovery disks.

i managed to get the Respawn Rec hidden partition 15.9gb is there another partition im missing? Thanks guys
post #51 of 63
I believe that the only "hidden" partition regarding the Respawn/Recovery.

Another thread here outlining as how one accesses the hidden partition for recovery when no recovery disks are available.

What I would do is let respawn do its deal and get your system (current hard drive) restored.
Once that happens, you need to make a exact image copy of your hard drive.
You can use what ever program you like but I prefer (have used) acronis disk director and true image home.
Once you make an exact copy of your current drive and made a recovery boot disk, put in your new drive (bigger drive) and either put your current (smaller) drive into your second hard drive bay or into an external enclosure.
Then, boot off your recovery disk (the one you made with true image or what ever program you prefer) and restore your image to your new (bigger drive) (you need access to your back up image which you can put on your smaller HD or span multiple dvd's or a spare HD if you got it).

Boot into your new imaged copy and then run disk director to reallocate your free hard drive space (as the image you made was for a smaller hard drive) or make the free space into a separate partition.

Then you are good to go.
I have done this and it does work using disk director and true image home (was able to recover the respawn partition by using disk director and setting it to active then rebooting to restore my system then migrated over to a new hard drive)

Good luck

Just run hdclone

Then format the area NOT IN THAT partition
post #57 of 63
Or run hdclone

Then just resize the main partition using gparted and your done and it's all free

It sounds pretty hard. it took me over a month to get back the respawn rec partition. i think there was another one but i never got it back. thanks for the help bro.
No problem, and it seems harder than it is.

You can use disk director to set the alienspawn partition to active then reboot.
This will make it so that the system skips windows and boots straight into respawn. (do this only if your boot from respawn is borked)
From there just do a system recovery and this way you will be back to factory.
From there you can use what ever program you like to make an exact hard drive image copy and follow what I said before.

Good luck.
