Novice prepping to repair PCG-TR3 Ultralites

Thread Starter
I have a PCG-TR3A with a smashed hinge on the screen case side. It works well, just don't dare transport it.

I'm using a PCG-TR3AP which I found used, works well, but the "W" key sticks and doesn't record sometimes. Not sure if it needs the whole new key board or if I can refit the key back in place.

I think the hard drive is bad on another sony PCG-TR1MP - and I'm trying to figure out if I should 1) use parts from the TR1MP (keyboard, screen case) for the other two, or 2) use parts from the PCG-TR3A (hard drive and keyboard) for the other two.

I've never done this before, only dismantled the TR3A to tighten the hinge screws. Would appreciate any advice on how to proceed.

The reason I believe the TR1MP hard drive is bad is the repeated crashes increasing to a point where it is just non functional, now a short blue screen only for a few seconds then blank, when trying to start and the reason I suspect I should just abandon the hd. Following are some errors I was able to copy in the Event Viewer before it became non-functional.
Under System there are two errors:

Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 8054c269, parameter3 ed92b974, parameter4 00000000.

A free service guide for this model is hard to find. You might want to invest a few $ and order it online. Or just take one of the notebook and start dismantling. We have a sticky here in the section that you can browse and see if you can get the service guide from a model close to yours.

cheers ...
