I have an Acer Aspire 5102 that has been back to acer service 4 times during its 3 year warranty peeiod. they said they have replaced the hd and MB along with the hinges on the screen. My opinion is it is a lemon but Acer was fixing it so I had no problem except I had to keep returning it.
My current problem is that it has developed a problem that I can't figure out. After using it for 45-60 minutes (the air leaving the case is HOT) if I turn it off and restart it, it reloads wndows and everything is fine, but if I turn it off for say 2-3 hours and try and start it up themachine boosts Bios and the HD light goes solid and I hear a beep and I get a BS that says I have error 200 and the my fixed drive is defective. It is wrong. I just replaced the HD with a new one that match's spec of the original. I have re-installed the upgraded bios (V3.13) and it should be aok, but it is not.
Does anyone on the forum know if a defective motherboard will cause these symptoms? it is driving me nuts and Acer Tech basically tells you to drop dead after the warranty expires. I don't want to have to replace this computer as I only use it for occasional computing. All told, it probably doesn't have 100 hours of actual useage. I spend most of my time trying to get it to just work properly.
Any comments would be appreciated.
