Thread Starter
Hi all, new member, hope you can help me.

I have an Acer Extensa 5220 with an 80GB HDD and 1GB RAM.
The HDD is in two parts, one designated as drive C and is 40GB and factory fitted with Vista aqnd labelled ACER, the other is designated drive D and is also 40 GB but empty and labelled as DATA.
My question is:
Can I safely install Ubuntu (preferebly the latest version) on drive D and of so how.
Mnay thanks, look forward to comments.

Hello!

It is very possible to install Ubuntu on your drive D. I do not myself have Ubuntu, but for dual-booting I recommend checking out this website
http://apcmag.com/the_definitive_dua...stepbystep.htm
which should help you out step by step. The Vista => Vista + Ubuntu guide uses Ubuntu 9.04 as a model (updated March 2009). You may not even need to move your partition because it's already 50/50.

Ubuntu's basic website might also have some tips that you will may find useful.

Good luck and please post with your results!
