Synergi, your right it doesn't seem like games are pushing much, I just want to be able to handle it all.
Okay, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has no clue what credits are for.

I'd figure out what your max budget is. I think its more important to get the best motherboard, processor combo. You can swap out video cards as they become slow. Last years ATI 4870, can be had on the cheap. I'm sure whatever Nvidia's last year high end card can be also.

I just find the most graphics intensive game I want to be able to run and find a card that can run it. I was once upon a time the upgrade queen. I rebuilt my system every 12 to 15 months. Now, well my desktop hasn't been upgraded since I built it in 2007 and it still ran everything before I gave it away.

I think its why I got comfortable with laptops. The cards keep getting better while gaming graphics in most cases seem to be at a stand still.

We had a plan for them from the beginning that you could use them to buy stuff. We have a different plan now. News to come out soon.

I have become more and more impressed by Vizio as of lately. Opinions on this one:
Vizio 22" Razor

I figure 32-37" for a monitor might be a bit much. 22" sounds like a good size. And 170 isnt too bad.

Well, I hate to be the downer here lol. Now I haven't seen this model. Before I bought my LG, I did my homework, bought the Vzio VL26 or something like that. It was IPS, 178 degree viewing angles. I mean how can you go wrong with those specs?

It was horrible. The color was terrible, the text was over scanned and you couldn't turn it off so it wasn't solid, kind of thin and hard to read. I drove 60 miles to get this thing. I ended up selling it to my mom at a 50 dollar loss so I didn't have to drive it back lol.

Keep in mind though, I am die hard on panels. This year I vowed never to buy a screen with terrible viewing angles ever again. I like IPS, usually I like LG made panels. There are a lot of crap IPS panels out there believe it or not. I for one can't stand anything AUO makes.

I still have my old Acer Ferrai red 20'' IPS monitor because its still beautiful and I refuse to part with it hehe. But unfortunately, that is what the Vizo had to compete with when I brought it home. If I didn't have the Acer, I may not have noticed how BAD the color was, but the text, there was just no way around that.

FF this is only a 22 inch. Is this the size you are going for? I personally don't like this one because the Viewing angles are not good. This tells me its a cheap TN panel. Also for a monitor/TV you might want it to swivel, depending on your set up.

See now I bet you guys wish I'd disappear for another year.

Thanks for the heads up Steve, 40 is kind of out of my screen size for this project. 32 - 37" is what I think I would like. The 22" just seemed like it would be nice but after thinking about it, wouldnt be my best option.

Thanks for the post Synergi. 32 - 37" is what Im thinking would be a good size for a comp/media center for my room. Still looking and now Im on the path of spec-ing out a desktop too.

I love my 32" LG. While I was assigned to Keesler AFB, MS it served as my entertainment setup- ported out computer monitor, HD Blu-Ray viewer, etc. It was a shame I had to ship it back home while I'm temporarily assigned here in FL.

I don't have that exact model but my LG looks like the picture posted in this thread. IT does work really great but it was also subject to the panel lottery. LG made iPS panels for it, that was the cream of the crop of panels to get..but they also used panels from AUO and one other that was crap. (My model not yours.) Thats why its good to research so you know what your buying.

But this was my year where I refused to buy anymore bad screens on any device. Good color, 178 degree viewing angles or I'm not buying. My HP TM2 completely killed any desire to own a TN panel device. Wow that was a horrible screen.

My plan once I get back home is to build a desktop system and get a really good monitor for it. preferably 24"...
