Sony VGN-SZ71 W - Windows 7 issues

Have you checked and see if there are W7 drivers for your model direct from eSupport? I have not yet my SZ71 to W7, currently working on the lady's CS21.

How did you perform the upgrade? Any error codes and messages?

Hi thanks for starting the thread and the response, it was a clean W7 install not an upgrade no errors occurred.
There are no W7 drivers i can see on Vaio website.

In this case I strongly recommend that you get the Vista drivers and use them. They should work if you are on the same 32bits (or 64bits) under W7 as you were in Vista.

What just the nvidia ones? i thought it was better to use the X3100? if so where would i find that.

Try going here first:
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/sel...E&mdl=SZ71&1=3

And plug in your model number. eSupport should have all drivers you need for the Vista environment.

Thanks the vista drivers worked for Nvidia, how do i use the onboard graphics rather than the Nvidia though. as your review said it performed better this way.

Yes. That is under Vista , I haven't tested out on W7 yet. So what happens now if you turn on the Stamina? Have you tried letting W7 updating it inside the Stamina mode?

You can try to download the Windows Vista drivers as they should be compatible with Windows 7. Also, Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to also check the threads available there for additional assistance and feedback.
