Alienware M17x HDMI Output Question

My M17x, while spec'd out to the max, only has a 1440X900 display, however, I am using an external monitor setup with 1920X1200 resolution through the M17x's HDMI output. Picture looks great, but when I change the resolution to 1920X1200, it shrinks each side in about 1/2". Is this a design flaw of the M17x, or is this standard for this type of setup? Thanks

What is your external display model? They do differ from one monitor to the others.

Play with different settings on the monitor? Like automatic screen fill if you have such thing? My 32" does the same thing at first turning on of the notebook, and then it stretches itself out.

Mine isn't a "stretch out" deal, mine stretches too far, such that the round Windows logo on the task bar is only 1/2 seen, and on the right side, I can only see part of the actual time.

I see that happening on mine as well, from certain TV channels. Reset the LCD-TV to default values did help sometimes but not always.

m17x driver issue?
