toshiba satellite M50-Mx5 audio/video playback slo mo youtube?

Hi, my OS is XPsp2 and I have been using Kaspersky A/V and Prevxx Edge on my notebook for several years and have had no problems.
My notebook is working OK, what I mean is that my regular apps apart from the sudden "slo mo" audio on Windows start up are fine. And the other issue is with the playback of the You Tube...audio and video is in Slo-mo???

I checked the Device Manager and the Codecs and Realtek audio show as operating OK?
I played a saved You Tube file and it was fine,
I played a CD and it was fine.
I played a DVD and both audio and video were fine.

I am not sure what the problem is and would appreciate experienced comments.
Thank you.

It was suddenly just happened? Do you have a restore point to revert to?

Would this slow-motion playback occur on any/every browsers?

cheers ...

Thx for the reply. All You tubes are affected. Except for Saved ones. The Windows jingle is garbled audio and staticky as occurs with keys on the keyboard that normally make a sound. I am wondering if the "Realtek" multimedia under 'Sound, Game Controllers' should have something listed under the 'Properties' as does the others including 'Legacy' audio. They all show as working fine except that I find that there is nothing listed in the properties of 'Realtek'?
Should there not be?
Thank you for your interest and I hope to get to the bottom of this.
I have burned CD and DVD and playback is all OK, Browser is fine, Outlook is OK, did a M$ Word document and it was OK.
Puzzled.

Yes I did an uninstall with the Flash tool and reinstall of flash. Installed another browser and still get the same issue of slow motion video and blurred audio sound online Youtubes, video clips online. Contacted my high speed provider and they checked and ny connection speed is consistent and I am able to access forums quickly, play cd, dvd fine, Just this glitch in my online video.
I went into dxdiag and checked Sound and found:
1. MS MIDI Mapper....scratchy and staticky..blurred sound
2. GS Wavetable SW Syn. (emulated) scratchy and blurred
3. MS Synthesizer ...OK
4. Realtek AC 97 Audio...scratchy and staticky
This was when I did Test Direct Music.

I did not know what this test was all about, I read it on Google and decided to try it out.
BTW, the other browser I tried with these Online videos was Mozilla Firefox only to replicate the same problems?
I really am baffled.
Thank you for your interest and I will continue to struggle along here....could it be related to the Realtek AC Audio???
Thx again.

I continued to Google and found a Toshiba user in the Tech Guy forum who this past July 2009 had the similar problem.

The suggested solution was:

Start>Run>msconfig and "Disable All" plus OK and Reboot.
Then tried the formerly failed videos and they streamed fine !!!
Went back and "Enabled All" and Reboot and played again the formerly failed videos and they are still OK.
Any ideas of what could have caused this 'bizarro' occurrence that took me a day to keep myself out of the "$$$$$" tech store??
Thx so much for your interest and support .... it is very valuable when one is getting stressed in search of an elusive answer.
Cheers and I look forward to any comments that you may have and I hope that this might help other members who hopefully will not travel down this awful path....but I have posted what fixed my demise in the event that it may help others.

Interesting fix, but then it fits into the mold of uninstalling/reinstalling drivers when certain inexplicable issues occur.

Thanks for the feedback and sharing of the finding. REP.

cheers ...
