Hi, i have a acer laptop that did have vista on, i have upgraded this recently to windows 7, i have just today bought a new webcam which it says is windows 7 ready plus there are no drivers needed, i can just plug it in and it will work.

sounds nice and easy =]

well, i have plugged it in and it seems to be installing, finds the driver etc, then it says cannot install, then when i go into the device manager and click into the device it sayd access denied, i have tried alsorts to fix it, turned uac off etc and still does same thing, tried in safe mode, i just cannot do it.

has anyone got any idea please, id be very greatful

thanks

Webcam model? Check with the seller for update? Which W7 version are you using (32/64bits)? ... Your Acer model?

Is this cam the one?

Trust Widescreen HD Webcam 3 megapixel USB 2.0

If it is, I would be worrying about the system requirements shown on this site.

What is your Acer Model?

The only Trust cams that are W7 compatible are being shown here at W7 compatibility centre.

I'd take the ding back or ask them to give you a proper driver. By the way, it would be nice if you share your Acer model with us here.

this also might be worth noting, the laptop has a built in cam which i disable as its not as good and cant be moved from its position, i have always used another cam with no issue when this sytem has vista on, i have just uninstalled the usb ports and let them reinstall again to see if that will sort it and now the built in cam is coming up saying access denied, so it doesnt seem to be a driver issue there seems to be something on my laptop that is blocking me installing new devices.
