OVB is the last listed on the Samsung site. So what D1 and D7 I am not certain of not part of the official model number are these both on the same site? Could be internal retailer code? As far as I know the same. Nothing comes up on search. Link for us?

i could not find anything in the search also that is why i opened the subject. there is only Chinese or Japanese website. this maybe could be a code for dell. because two of them removed from dell.

DeLL inventory control code is my guess right now? But as said the drives are the same does not matter which you get. I think?

I wish I had links to what we are talking about. But both are current SSD's and in fact the same drive as discussed prior. As such I guarantee both support "trim" in firmware. Which is what is needed for W7 to make use of. I had other concerns but really they did not result in searches. If you have ever heard "the squeaky wheel gets the grease"? If there was a difference shortcoming on either our searches would of turned up results. They don't and the model # is the same for all that is listed on the official site. I would get the D7 if the same only because 7 comes after 1? But at this point are we making a non issue into an issue? If there is an issue I guarantee there would be a firmware update to resolve.

Intel just had that issue a month ago. But the chatter on the Internet and retailers pulling off the shelves until new were shipped made the issue obvious. That is not the case here.

Please link I will figure out if Chinese or Japanese and see if I can understand what is being said and the difference. Short of that we are just going back and forth without me having the real info.

This is an OCZ firmware, so I take it that this particular Samsung SSD is a rebranded OCZ drive? If so yes, it would support TRIM.

I personally would stay with Intel or OCZ brands myself regarding "trim" SSDs units at the moment.

cheers ...

yes, ocz and corsair ssds are same as samsung ssds even same f/w numbers. there support pages and forums clearly said they dont give support on samsung ssds, they also dont say that they are different , they dont comment on this questions

i have got the d7 model in my hand eventually, these ssds are coming with dell and win7 os. so i guess also it supports trim,
i made a test with atto , read speed 230mb write speed reached 197mb im well happy with the speed and solid quality of disk.

if we start a subject about trim and bgc also upgrading f/w
that subject will reach 900 page in two days,.

Limerick you are correct. The questions about SSD's are many as new technology and all. And a tip on Samsung and other brands. If they look the same likely really a Samsung. Samsung is the worlds largest electronics MFG so they make and sell to others who re-brand. Not the other way.

I wish I new more but the Intel's have the best controller I don't know but they might be selling that to others?

Until you fill up your SSD you will have no idea if trim is working, unless of course the OS tells you. The problems and the reason you want trim do not demonstrate until SSD has been used and filled somewhat. A new SSD even without "trim" does not suffer the issues that make "trim" important. With lots of open space the entire write page/block is not an issue.

hi, powerpack

My xps 1640 runs perfect with ssd. i have been looking for second hdd to help ssd to extend the life of it. by thinking i could add another ssd drive and use it as temp folders for browsers and some programs such as secondlife.

New thread for ideas here!

I had 2 of these in my gateway in Raid 0 (just pulled them out and put them into my new desktop gaming rig), and both came with a "19Q" something F/W. Sorry, I'm still at the office or I'd check the exact version number for you.

If its actually "Samsung" then unfortunately, they do not support trim yet AFAIK.

OK I just checked. My firmware (on both drives is VBM 19D1Q), FWIW.

how long do you have the disk, and can you do a speed test with single disk, does it have the same performance as first day ?
Sorry man, they are currently setup in RAID 0 for a boot drive. So I can't test just one. I've had them for about 2 months or so maybe and they seem to be about as fast as when I got them, from just eyeballing the boot / startup time.
