A70 Problems

I just finished repairing a friend's A70 power jack problem only to discover that the unit won't boot up. It gets to the Windows XP screen and abruptly shuts down.

Can anyone shed some light on this little mystery?

Would it let you go into Safe Mode?

No. It also won't boot up from the cd drive. The only time it remains on is if I go into the BIOS.

Try reset the BIOS back to default values, remove the drive and see if the BIOS recognizes that there is no drive present. Also try with another drive.
