How to add a 2 hard drive in the M17x

1 open the bottom acess panel by removing the battery then the 2 screws

2 take the connector you recieved and plug it in ( see below)

3 take the metal case that came with the connector and slide the hard drive in with the label facing up with the connector on.

4 now you need to slide it all the way into the case

5 now you need to place the back end of the Hard drive into the back of the slot for the HD.

push down until its flat then screw in

NOW i know this isn't great but it should get you through the process

The new M17Xs as of late actually come with the 2nd hard drive caddy. Kinda nice not having to go through the troupble of ordering it

It was also the same setup as my M6400

Does this need to be purchased separately if you get a m17x with only 1 HDD in it?
Above posters say the caddy is included, bit the write up asks for this bit too.

When the M17xR1 was released it only came with 1 bracket if you only ordered 1 hdd. Since that time Dell has started including both brackets and the interposer regardless.

I just got off the phone with alienware, I had to have them ship me the caddy with the adapter.
I guess that is one way to save on them, since not every customer will be adding drives.
