LT2005u

I just bought a LT2005u from Best Buy and found out that the speed drops to 488 as soon as you go onto batter power. I chatted with tech support and they said that is what it is supposed to do and there is no way to change it. I have 2 other laptops that allow you to change it so I find it hard to believe that I can't.

Does anyone know how to increase the speed while on battery?

Have you reviewed the power settings and set it to full performance whilst on battery?

In the XP when I go to Power Options all that I can do is tell it when to turn off the monitor and hard drive. Unlike my other laptops, I can't tell it what power to use.

The tech support man mentioned Launch Manager but I do't think that I have it but I see that I can download it. Do you think that will work?

Thanks,

Do you see an option of "Always On" within the power schemes?

Yes I do but once again it only lets me put how soon to turn off the monitor, hard drive, when to go into standby and when to hibernate. I modified the power scheme to always on and put all Never for plugged in and 15 minutes for monitor, 30 minutes hard drive never standby and 1 hour hibernate if on battery. It doesn't seem to change to full power.

I am really baffled since my other laptops with XP can do this. I find it hard to believe that Gateway won't let you do it. Going down to 488 (about 75% power) on battery is kinda dumb if someone would rather have performance.

Thanks again for your suggestions,
