seems like I had made a good choice... but how come it cost 200pound more for upgrading from CF 4870 to SLI 280m

Nvidia is retarded and overcharges for crusty g92 architecture

this from a person running a nvidia card, lol.

Not By choice

Who forced you? lol! You could have held on to the M17 until the 4870s were released....I know, I know hindsight is 20/20

I still would have gone with the GTX cards

Believe me Dave it is soooo much easier dealing with the ATI drivers versus the nVidia drivers. When I had the nVidia system I had to keep switching drivers depending on what I was doing whether it was benchmarking or gaming. Now I use the Cat 9.11 drivers for everything. If I didn't switch I didn't get optimal performance.

My backup folder for my old M17x had about 20 different drivers in it. Now I have 2, the ones from Dell and the Cat 9.11 drivers.

I been using the Dell drivers for everything and find it works just fine.

I understand about the "tweaked drivers" but the extra few FPS is not that important to me.

I can game nicely with the stock drivers.

Still if they release a I7 version of the M17x, I would consider it, along with a newer GPU

I guess you haven't hit a game where the stock drivers weren't good enough.

Been playing Crysis, BF2, BF 1942, BF2142, COD4 so far no issues - at least none I have not seen before - IE crashes in BF2

Do you have FO3?

Do you like those open world type of games? If so it's a must have.

i like the Shooter games like the ones above

waiting for the new BF1943 and BF2 Bad company relases next year now

the lastest COD relase was a dissapointment for PC user who want thier own servers

It depends highly on what you plan to use the computer for. For peopel that are into "pushing" to the limit, like NWGuru, then ATI is the way to go. For others like me, and sounds like Dave also, NVidia is a good choice since we won't have to be switching up drivers and such...

You need to switch drivers on nvidia all the time and the performance varys Waugh to much with each driver

I say ati all the way

Just a opinion from a guy that can't download 100 drivers

I have not seen this issue, I been using the Dell drivers, and have had no issues playing any games or apps.

All my games play of High Settings with no issues.

I have seen my fair share of ATI driver issues in the past as well

They seem to take turns writing bad drivers
