After Windows 7 installation on my Gateway MX6453 Notebook, I had the yellow warning in the device manager and the error was Mass Storage Controller not installed. Since Gateway does not offer Win 7 support, I Googled and read for 2 days before I pieced together a solution from bits offered by a number of great folk.

Since there’s so much to wade through that didn’t work or else was way over my head, I wanted to post the simple solution I finally put together. The real problem is the media card reader, and Gateway does have a VISTA offering [D20009-000-001.exe - Windows XP and Vista (32/64-bit) TI Media Card Reader Driver].

Download it here http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/getFile.asp?id=21836&uid=283956164. I installed it using compatibility mode from posted instructions [1. Right click on Setup.exe, 2. Click Properties, 3.Click Compatibility, 4.Choose Vista SP2, 5.Check the compatibility mode and save, 6.Run Setup.exe]

That’s it. Problem solved.

The default Windows driver does not work? You cannot use the touch pad at the moment?
