A little higher then what I'm used to but for the normal laptop buyer, not too bad. Would be nice if you could of found the intel version but congrats on your new laptop buy. Good look and hope it lasts you along time without any issues. Best Regards, Justin.

Thanks. I did find the intel version with the T4300. I bought it online at staples only to find out 5 hours later they were out of stock! The system was so backed up, I was able to add it to my cart and buy it, but little did I know they were long gone. This one from HP will cost me about $40 more. But it has a 320gb hard drive instead of 250 for the intel one. Also I read the ATI 4200 hd graphics are better than the 4500 mhd on Intel. So I think it worked out ok. Hope I like the AMD, I'm an Intel (P4, C2D E6600, C2Q Q6600, i7 860) through the years desktop user.

You will enjoy your AMD+ATI combo notebook They are much better built nowadays, though they never failed me in the past.

cheers ...

My HP is scheduled to be delivered today! This is probably a stupid question but.......do you have to charge your laptop battery before you can use it? Or can I just plug it into the wall and start using it right away? I remember whenever I would get a new cell phone, I would be all excited, but then I had to let it sit there charging for 24 hours teasing me, before I could turn it on.

Just plug in and let it rip. Get used to the comp first before start fiddling with it.

My personal recommendations (using them myself)

- don't uninstall anything yet

- if you don't want them, simply disable them - in startup processes and in services.

- cCleaner is a good free utility for disabling stufss you don't want

- get yourself a free antivirus (Avast, MSE) instead of using the commercial ware that comes with the notebook ...

- any others? just drop us a note

cheers ...

Looks good, should be solid for a while with 4gb of RAM and a dual core!

Congrats

I agree with qhn about being careful changing stuff right away. But that does not apply to applications you know you don't want. Like the commercial anti virus, and I use AVG (ha Han) and like very much. Do not update drivers unless there is a known issue and you are affected newer is not always better contrary to what seems to be popular opinion.

On the battery thing Han is correct. On a cell phone the only possible reason they want you to charge fully first is because it is not meant to be used other than on battery for the most part. It will in no way hurt using your cell phone with out full charge other than running out of charge. So next time do not wait with that new phone! Indulge!

Very nice laptop! I will agree with the others saying AMD + ATi combination is great. I enjoyed using my dv2 before going back to my trusty thinkpad but the HP's display was beautiful.
