UL30Vt & UL50Vt... w/rubberized palm rest?

Thread Starter
So I saw the UL50AG-RBBBK05 at Best Buy, and it has a rubberized type palm rest/inner bezel while retaining the aluminum top. It's also got a slick type touchpad. Overall, pretty much the sexiest chassis design I've ever seen.

What I'm hoping to find is a UL30Vt or UL50Vt in the same type of chassis. I've tried calling their pre-sales line, but they seem incapable of looking up individual configurations and could tell me no more than the Asus site - which has nothing but the Ag/Vt, doesn't even include the Vs, not very confidence-inspiring.

I'm hoping some of you fine folks might have some ideas or leads on where to look.

Oh, and if the BBY model fits your fancy BE AWARE that the warranty is only 1 year standard. (They do like them some extended service plans >_> )

The UL30Vt has what's they call ASUS IceCool Technology on the palm rest to ensure that the notebook runs cooler, for the machine itself and for the users. So it is probably better than the cool rubber dingy

They are many ASUS sellers that offer more than 1 year warranty. One just need to look and negotiate it.

In my research on this it looks to me like you are out of luck. I also think what you describe sounds very cool.

If you register the product I believe you get an extended warranty to 2 years from Asus. which is very good as well from what I've experienced.

Hi Keishin,

I picked up the UL50VT from Best Buy this past Saturday, and it does have the matte rubber on the interior. Havnt done any hardcore benchmarking but I ran it continuously for two days and used the balanced setting to reach about a little over 8 hours before having to recharge each time. I was using the wireless and was either VPNed into work, surfing the web, or doing installations via downloads and CD. I picked mine up at a Best Buy in Delaware. The website only shows the UL50AG so I went to the store to check it out. Was surprised when I found out they had the UL50VT in stock but not on display. Definitely glad I held off on a netbook to pick this up!
