My 9100 and my gf's 8600 - Page 2

Is it just me, or does the lid of the 8600 seem much more reflective than the 9100. Is it made of a different material? Or is it just where they are positioned on the table?

Great photos that really show the different structure from every angle! I can't understand why anybody would say the 9100 looks cheap!!!!

Same screen. We had JUST taken her computer out of the box and she had not taken off the plastic on the top of the screen yet. There's just a plastic sheet there, it's not actually more reflective.

And her computer is not slow just because she doesn't have a 2.8ghz P4 HT like me. In comparison to mine, it feels slower, but it's still a very smooth running machine and I like it alot.

You might be referring to the same thing, but just to clarify: I don't mean the screen, I mean the top of the lid, when the notebooks are shut. The top of the 8600 seems glossier, almost like a cheaper plastic. But are you saying there is a plastic sheet on top of it?

Yup, sorry if I wasn't clear, we are talking about the same thing. There is a plastic sheet that comes on the laptop covering the back/top of the notebook, probably to protect that silver paint and the Dell symbol.

Ah, good then. Because otherwise that was looking really cheap!

The MOST aweome pics i have seen on notebookforums.com!!! the clairty is toooo much. Nice layout too.

Nice pictures!

My personal preference is SpeedSwitchXP, although I won't get the graphical confirmations of changing volume, brightness, etc that the QuickSet provides.

I wish the laptops came as glossy as shown on the i8600's lid at:

(Yeah, I know it's that film that makes it glossy.)

Yeah, its just the sticker. It would be nice to have a gloss finish like that though.

i still have the sticker on my laptop i think is really good that is there. im with hksscom i wish it came like this. anyway i think is better not to remove it because unlike my laptop my friend 600m looks like something just took a knife and started going of on his LCD back panel.

Are both of the laptops in the photos set to their native WSXGA resolution?

Newer 8600 laptops do not have the track stick.

Yes, but I believe hers was set to have the large icons and fonts. That'll get changed, believe me.

The desk chair wheels on the bottom of the kitchen table chairs gave me a bit of a laugh. Never seen anything like that before.
nice! i can't wait to get mine.
Look at that power brick of the 9100.

is it just me or does the 9100 look kinda ugly? the bottom section seems a bit bulky and the colors don't match so well....

im sure it's a nice desktop replacement performer though.
