Threw up on then spilled beer in my XPS M1730...

Well, I threw up on my XPS M1730. When I jumped up to grab a towell, I spilled almost half of a 12 oz bottle of Guinness Extra Stout into the computer. I called Dell, and they told me I would have to send it to the depot for repairs. I got the box and sent it in today. I was just wondering how long it usually takes for them to fix and return the computer to me. I am lost without my baby.

lol OK I think this is one of the better Stories I have heard.

If they have the parts turn around time is fairly quick.

IF your GPU is damaged maybe by 2011 lol

You should have seen my brother, rolling around on the floor, laughing at me!

I have been afraid of doing that to mine. I do a different brand of beer though.
Good luck getting it fixed. I hope you have a complete care warranty like me.

I was feeling a little under the weather after eating some sushi. Something just didn't sit right with me. I really feel bad for the guy who has to work on it. By the time I got the box today, it had been sitting for three days and was not smelling too good. I hope it wasn't a stomach bug. He may want some sort of hazmat suit!

No, no, I'm sorry. Dell tried to pull that crap with me one time before. I had a Dimension 9150 that they could not fix. They tried to send me a Vostro 400 then an Inspiron 530. I escalated to some executive escalations team, and they ended up sending me an XPS 420, which is comparable to the Dimension 9150. The XPS 16 is not even close to the M1730, and the 1737 is not a gaming system.

I might consider the Adamo XPS or the Latitude Z600...

I would just tell them if they don't have any 1730's, and they refuse to give you a M17X, to just give you a full refund.

Seems a few people have had luck getting a refund in a reasonable amount of time and they used that $$$ to buy the laptop they wanted.

as with all these things it really comes down to the Rep you get, but the executive ecalations will help
post #12 of 39
well reps are not the deciding factors anymore as every single time i got a rep that made a replacement request for a m17x but there freaking "special account team" kept putting the account on hold

My understanding was that if the depot decides that the computer was BER (beyond economical repair) then they would replace the unit. All replacements, according to Ayubali Mohammed, are like or better. So, I was just wondering what kind of timeframe I would be looking at for repair or replacement. I have never used my complete care warranty before.

So, what kind of refund did they offer you? A full refund of what you paid, minus the prorated part of the warranty?
well dont get me started on how much i called and escalated and it was like i was speaking a diffrent language (no pun intended) as no one could tell me how much refund i was suppose to get till i actually get the refund

lol! NICE!

My 8 month old daughter spilled a "venti" coffee on my 1710 two weeks ago. I sent off my laptop yesterday. I'm interested to see how it goes
