what is the version for the 10.5 hours battery?

Hey everyone,

I want to buy the Asus EEE PC 1005HA laptop.
I've seen that there are 2 version of it: the N270 and N280 CPU types which also come with different battery versions.
Are there more versions than those two?

My concern is about the battery life:

The website where I found the N280 version says that it lasts for 8.5 hours and yet another site which listed the N280 said it is the 10.5 hours.

To be sure of the battery life is it suffice to check that the batter is 6-Cell 63Wh Li-ion Battery and that's it?

Thanks,

If i had to guess without looking anything up, I'd say that 10.5 hour might be a stretch.

I am not referring to the semantics of the 10.5 hours exactly or not but just on the proposed claim from Asus. Just so I can distinguish that I'm buying the actual long-life (10.5) battery and nothing other than that.

Take the N280, Asus EEE PC 1005HA is slated for long battery usage of between 8+ and 10+ regardless of the CPU in there.

cheers ...

You want the 6 cell, 63WHr battery. THe 8 hour battery is the 6 cell, 48Whr battery .

But I’m guessing that most users won’t need an extended battery. That’s because the Eee PC 1005HA runs for a ridiculously long time on a single charge. With WiFi on and the screen set to half brightness, I was able to get 8 hours of more of battery life.

I wrote part of this review on an airplane with the WiFi turned off, and the Windows power meter told me that I could get as much as 12 hours of run time, although I haven’t put that to the test (I don’t typically have much use for a netbook that’s not connected to the net).

I ran the same Battery Eater Pro test on the Eee PC 1005HA that I’ve used in a number of other reviews. In classic mode, the netbook lasted about 6 hours and 15 minutes. That’s about ten minutes better than the Eee PC 1000HE, which lasted 6 hours and 4 minutes in the same test. The test is designed to put a constant strain on the system, so I’d imagine it’s safe to say that you could watch about 5 or 6 hours of standard definition video before the battery would give out on you.

HE's asking which of the batteries is rated at 10 hours.

The reason I asked with specific questions regarding the battery is because I have seen on 1 website the N280 version and the website says "8.5 hours" and another website showing the N280 version saying "10.5 hours" - thus my confusion.

Googling a bit wikipedia reveals that there are 3 battery models: 3cell, 4cell and 6cell. Is it safe to assume that if the battery is the 6cell then that 1005HA model is the 10.5 hours battery life?

Hope this clears things.

From notebookcheck review ..

"The battery life is therefore overall very impressive. For those who want even more should take hold of the 1005HA-H model from the start, which not only has a stronger CPU, but also a larger battery, which is supposed to run for up to 10.5 hours."

cheers ...
