HP Pavilion dv4-1431us processor upgrade

Thread Starter
This laptop has a t6600 processor that does not support virtualization. I have Windows 7 pro installed and I need to run some things in XP mode for work. Can I just upgrade to a p8700 processor? Will the BIOS have to be changed?

I hope that is enough info.
Thanks in advance for responses.

BIOS has to be changed (updated if available) in order to support VT in Windows 7.

If I go in to update BIOS will it automatically recognize the new processor?

If the CPU is within the range that the BIOS/Chipset support - yes, it will recognize the new CPU without changes.
