Windows 7 and Bluetooth...

So for whatever reason, I am having trouble installing this driver. Once installed, it says it wasn't installed properly.

I try re-installing it and the message comes as:

"Acativate Device Using Wireless Switch"

What does this mean?

Did you have the wireless switch "ON"? And any function key to activate the BT on top?

cheers ...

It's that wireless symbol on the media strip.

I've had nothing but nightmares installing Windows 7. I do clean installs, not the upgrade crap. The first install I did gave me BSODs and undetected hardware.

The 2nd install I did, the Alienware OSD wouldnt show the icons after a restart, with TWO undetected pieces of hardware. Can't install Blue Tooth again, and pressing the Wireless switch doesn't do anything for me.

I read DaveP's post about a patch? But can't seemto find it anywhere.

My concerns:

1. Unidentified hardware x2 (Windows can't find the drivers so I am stuck)
2. Bluetooth not working
3. Apparent conflicts between m17x and Windows 7.

Your missing hardware devices are 2 of 3 things. One is your SMU driver which is part of the chipset package. The other will either be the IR receiver or the Ricoh SD card controller.

ok, I may have to try those. What say you about the Alienware OSD app not showing the pics (ie: sound up/down, wireless off, etc.) after restart?

Did you do all your Windows updates first?

and reinstalling it didn't work? Are any of the buttons working? DVD eject? Might be time for a power drain.

All the buttons work, just the little on screen display pic doesn't show up while the action is taking place...

yeah, re-formatting with Vista last night was probably the SMOOTHEST re-format experience I have ever had with any computer. I'll hold off on Windows 7 for 6 months to a year (That was my original plan anyway)

Sounds like a driver version issue.

Thats most likley what it is. I just don't care that much about Windows 7 to HAVE to make it work...
