I don't see why not, the NVIDIA GeForce Go 6100 chipset does support ADM Turion 64 X2 and AMD Turion 64 besides the AMD Sempron.

But I would go easy on it, don't push or try to double the GHz

cheers ...

I don't have any scientific methods in upgrading, but so far I am good with 25-30% more performance CPU swap. Good luck.

From current 1.8 Sempron to 2.4 Turion? I don't know, the TL62 or TL-64 are what I personally would push for. You must take in consideration of the CPU architect, the Turion is per definition a better performer than the Sempron already, even at same speed.

CPU-Z, 3D Mark (free/trial version) and Super Pi should give you some numbers difference. Take screen shots before and after. Good luck.

Some reminders

. don't over tighten the heatsink screws (if you have to force the screws in, you are doing something wrong)
. follow the sequence
. not too much thermal paste

cheers ...
