Hi guys, new to the forum
. I have a e1705 that I received, refurbished, as a replacement of an older laptop over 2 years ago. T5600, 2 GB RAM, ATI x1400, 60gb HD, battery is dead (can't even see it in bios).
I been reading a lot about upgrades and I figured 4 GB and an fx3500 would be a great upgrade (not sure if the increase in performance with a 7xxx CPU would be substantial enough to warrant the price). Between fx2500/fx3500 and the RAM I would spend $350 and another $20 for a 150W power cord. Now here lies my dilemma. The laptop is already old, spending almost $400 to upgrade an old computer with a used video card is a tough decision. I was advised to save my money and get a new laptop down the line. A new rig would run me $2000 so there is a big price difference.
Do you think it's worth it to upgrade this dinosaur with a 7900gtx or 7950gtx (which would be satisfactory, and a great improvement over the x1400), or should I forget it as the computer will most likely turn into dust soon anyway?
