VGN-AR670 8 gigs of RAM?

Hi, I've been looking all over for this information but haven't found it anywhere. From my understanding Santa Rosa platforms can handle 8 gigs of RAM, however most manufactures only say they can handle 4. Is the solely because 4 gig SODIMMs didn't exist at the time it was released? Anyway, I am looking for a yes/no/maybe as to if my AR670 CTO with the Intel T7800 (not sure if that makes any difference) will recognize 8 gigs of ram. I am running a 64bit OS so I can make use of it. Why I want 8 gigs is for virtual machines... I am soon to be installing 2 500gb hdds into it.

If nobody says No I may just buy the ram and see what happens...

Thanks,
Douglas

Does it recognize the full 4gig of ram at the moment with your 64bits OS? Some system just won't allow you to access more than that 4 gig on the board, regardless what OS you are using.

cheers ...

Currently it only has 2, so I have no idea. It was an odd model that I got as a "refurb", T7800 with 2 gigs of RAM and 2x120gb HDDs w/ the WUXGA screen. I think someone bought it as a "stripper" model and then returned it because it sucked...

It is 50%/50%. The original 965 only supported 4GB their was a revision issued in 6/07 stating 8GB support. But the MFG still says only 4GB supported. You are correct it could of been because when spec'd 4GB SO-DIMM's not out yet? I'll be honest I would go to 4GB's. 8GB is overkill in my opinion.

If you get 8GB let us know.
