SD card reader driver for Win 7

Just upgraded to Win 7. I uninstalled the Vista card reader driver that came with the machine because I read that it was known to cause Win 7 to BSOD. Is Toshiba going to release a Win 7 driver for the SD card reader?

Did you do any googling, I found this:

No. I checked on Toshiba's drivers and utilities page. It has a download for Windows Vista, but not for 7.

The P505-S8945 isn't listed as an applicable model for the TI Card Reader Driver for Windows XP/Vista/7.

Thanks just the same.

Did it BSOD on you with the Vista driver installed?

No. I had uninstalled the Vista driver before upgrading to 7. The BSOD was the result of a malfunction in the sdbus.sys file, which I assume is MS' SD card driver. From what I have read, there have been a host of problems with that driver as well. Plus, the SD card reader always had a yellow bang over it in the Device Manager.

I have since disabled the SD card reader completely in Device Manager just to keep it from crashing my machine.

Would you run Everest Home (or something like that) and share with us the card reader manufacturer and model?

Everest says I need a signed driver for it to function properly and because the program is so old, there are no drivers for it available.

I have limited functionality. I looked under storage and this is all I've found:

Nothing about an SD card, controller or anything else is mentioned.

Remember this?

If we trace back to it, it is the same bridge media used in many other Toshiba models, meaning that the W7 driver update you saw on its support site would work.

Give it a shot, it does not hurt!

Even if my model isn't listed? Alright. I'll try installing it. I suppose if it's incompatible Windows will warn me.

Correct, we are banging on the fact that the Bridge Media device is being used in other models. Good luck.

I just finished installing the driver from this link. I checked my Device Manager and the yellow bang is still over the icon for the SD card reader.

Try now uninstalling/removing the device from devices manager, reboot and let Windows 7 re-installing it.

Not at all. I'll be around.

Thanks for the help.

No problem, and anytime. Going onto day 2 and still working is a very good sign

I am still trying to figure out my own problem here.

Interestingly enough, I'm having a similar problem with my aircard resetting itself while plugged into the USB port. I wonder if it or the port aren't developing a short.

Good luck with your problem.

It will be fun for sure. I will be taking the systems apart and trying to "learn" (or break) something new.

cheers ....
