Windows 7 desktop question

Hi,

First of all is there anyway to make the taskbar in Windows 7 like all previous version of Windows? The taskbar in 7 is double in size and takes away from screen real estate...I find it totally not needed but can't figure out how to make it smaller.

Lastly, no matter what window I have on my screen maximized, the bottom part of that window will not stretch/fill in all the way down to the top of the taskbar...there is like a 1" gap between the bottom of the page that is maximized and the top of the taskbar...I can't seem to figure that one out either.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

An easy way to gain more scree real estate when using programs is set the taskbar to slide out of the way when you're not using it. To do this, right click on the taskbar and choose Properties. Then click the "Auto-hide the taskbar" box. It will slide out of the way until you put your cursor on the very bottom of the screen. Also, if you click the "small icons" box, the taskbar will shrink to about half the size.
