XPS M1530 lcd life span?

Sorry for all the questions guys but I got another one. My XPS M1530 is the higher end display (1680X1050/720p). I was wondering what do you think the life span of the display will be? I bought my system new from Dell back in April of 08 and I usually am using my computer about 10 hours a day, when I'm not using it I keep the lid closed which turns off the display (obviously.)

I'm kinda asking because my Nvidia 8600 card died this summer but was replaced by Dell for free because of an apparent *known issue* with the card...apparently a lot of peoples cards were dying out, I guess it was a defect in the cards??? My warranty was already expired but they replaced it for free because of a known defect. I realize the graphics card is not the LCD but I just thought I'd throw that info out there as well.

Thanks

most screen issues are physical defects which can include dead pixels, Cracked Display and lines appearing on the display.

another issue is the dimming of the display as the CCFL lights wear with time

The newer LED displays have not been around long enough to see hw they do.

With laptops most of the display problems could be attributed to the stress involved with transporting the laptop.

now to your question, you should get several years out of the display if there was no physical damage.

If you have an extended warranty it should not be a worry, but you would need the complete care warranty to cover accidental damage.

normal defects to the display would be covered under the standard warranty.

the backlight for the panel would probably go out before the panel itself would, and I don't think it would be too difficult to change that by itself (i'm not sure how, I've never actually looked at it for the 1530). they're generally rated for hours of use, not sure what the rating for the CCFL's in the 1530 are tho. I've had mine since Jan 08, and my backlight is acting inconsistently, but it is still working
