have you even been playing computer games that long, Nate?

In the grand scheme, Gearbox managed to actually give us something damn quick once they got a hold of the property. I congratulate them for finally putting this game out. I still wonder how good it might be though. Looks funny from a macho standpoint

Well they came out and said that it was pretty much done when they got it but it needed testing.

I stopped caring about Duke Nukem after 3D Realms was castrated. And I really don't like GearBox, the performance of their UE3 Borderlands is really awful and they never bothered to fix it. It's among my least favorite of the big name developers.

And another slap to the face is the fact Rage is around the corner. So for me, for FPS games, I've decided to forget GearBox and Duke Nukem and go with Rage instead.

It's not a big deal but for me, Duke Nukem isn't Duke Nukem without 3D Realms and as far as I'm concerned, GearBox are just pathetic posers. I'm really bothered anytime an IP is stolen by another bunch of d-bags. Whether it's 2K, EA, or Activision. An IP should always remain with the creators I think and it's a travesty whenever it's taken away. It's too bad game studios aren't more business savvy to retain the IP which are rightfully theirs. This has happened to Infinity Ward and COD and now Duke Nukem. Blech. Another reason why intellectual property laws suck.

I never played a Duke Nukem game, but I might resurrect my inner gamer and get this game.

PC Gamer (80/100): "I'm sure that years of anticipation will spoil Duke Nukem Forever for some-there's no getting around that at the end of that long road is only a good game and not an amazing one. It is what it is. He may not be at the top of his game, but even after all this time, Duke still knows how to party."

IGN (55/100): "Duke Nukem Forever isn't a revitalization of the early days of the first-person shooter genre or a middle-finger to the increasingly complex and sophisticated nature of videogame entertainment. It's a muddled, hypocritical exercise in irritation with solid shooting mechanics and decent encounter design."

Guardian (40/100): "A mark for nostalgia then - it's the Duke, after all - and one for the game. If this was 15 years in the making, it makes you wonder what they did for the other 14 years and 10 months."

Eurogamer (30/100): "For all his muscle and bravado, Duke Nukem is actually a fragile creature. His legacy is based on a specific combination of time and technology and a mercurial element of fun that simply doesn't lend itself to repetition, especially after so long in limbo. The appeal of Duke Nukem lives on. But your time and money would be better spent reliving his iconic past than bearing witness to this gruesomely mangled resurrection."

PC Gamer give the worst reviews. I really don't understand them. Dragon Age 2 is better than Witcher 2 according to those oddities. I've actually concluded, PC Gamer reviewers aren't PC Gamers. I think they are just console gamers and take screenshots on the PC to pass off their reviews as if played on PC. Seriously, they are not PC Gamers. Their reviews almost never address any of the questions and concerns I have as a PC Gamer.

Anyway, the reviews are great. I watched the ones from GameTrailers and Gamespot. At least it's giving me a good laugh. The game really should have been released 5-6 years ago, maybe the gameplay and visuals wouldn't be so dated then.
