My New Fujitsu N5010!!

After having received my first fujitsi laptop a little over a month ago, i must admit that i am totally in love with my new N5010 . And although i never actively asked for advice from all of you in this forum, needless to say, all of your previous posts and discussions on this laptop were extremely helpful (especially all of your praise for Ivan over at portable one/laptopsinc.com who has been super helpful in making my purchase and various upgrades a breeze).

I was looking for a desktop replacement that I could use at work and occasionally bring home with me, perhaps on the weekends to work from home. For the past year, I had been using a Dell Inspiron 600m. While the 600m was nice for its portability, i can't help but say that it felt a bit too "plastic-y" for my liking (needless to say, i was quite impressed by the build quality when i opened up the N5010).

I think my favorite aspect of the N5010 is the screen. It's simply breathtaking. Like most of you who have commented on the screen, i was never able to see one in person. I had seen the sony xbrites in person, and when many people commented that fujitsu's screen was better, I knew i couldn't go wrong with the n5010.

I have the 2.8Ghz P4 (HT) processor with the DVD-R drive, and i upgraded to the 60GB 7200 RPM harddrive, 1.5 Gigs RAM, and XP Pro.

Anyways, i figured i'd post pictures in case anyone out there might be considering this fine computing machine (If anyone wants high res pictures, just email me) In some of the pictures, the n5010 is to the right of a samsung 213T lcd monitor. In other pictures, the n5010 is to the left of my old dell 600m. Both laptops are running at sxga (1400x1050), and the samsung 213T is set to 1600x1200. (I apologize in advance for some of the pictures. I am in the office under horrible flourescent lighting, and i don't have my tripod or external flash. )

Awesome screen

Michae42... that screen leaves me completely breathless. Those pictures are the first that I have seen of that screen, and I am sure pictures cant do it justice, and that makes me want to see it in person even more.

Me and some others were just discussing the screen on this thread

Congratulations, you have a wonderful notebook

Hi Enderet. wow, if fujitsu does indeed release a thin/light laptop with the same "Crystal View" screen technology that my n5010 has(whether it be a P or S series) like you discuss in the thread you referenced in your previous post , i would almost DEFINITELY replace my 600m! Thanks for the info!

nice laptop and screen is beautiful, but i wish they had nicer graphic cards

The 9600 Is still a relativley new card. I suppose we forgot just how fast things can move now...
Although I haven't seen the 128MB version of the 9600 mobile, nor the newer 9700 models, I find my N5010 to work with everything I need it to.

Glad to see you're happy with your new machine. I seriously considered the N5010 before buying my Sager 8790, but the N5010 just didn't fit what I wanted. It's a sweet machine, though. Absolutely beautiful screen. Makes me smile looking at your pics. Heh. If I were rich, I'd keep my 8790, buy a Conspiracy Blue Alienware A51-m and snag a N5010. Why? I don't know. One for different rooms, maybe? They're just great machines. Can never have enough toys, right?

OMG!!!
the Crystal View screen is AMAZING!!
That's it, no more waiting, i am ordering a Lifebook S6210 right now!

well I believe Fujitsu is using the crystal view now on the thin laptops..in fact it looks like they are moving these screens to many of their product lines(if not all)...

I have had mine for 1mo and love the screen..
P4 3.0ghz HT/768mg ram/60gb 7200 rpm drive but I avoided the dvdrw as it was 2x DVD-r only...I have an 4x external writer(+r live all my dvdr media)

Anyone know where I can get cheap ram for this baby..I would like to increase to 1gb to 1.5 gb

there is no doubt this is the best screen out there I looked at the Sony Xbrites..close..

I wish I knew the smaller laptops were getting this screen I may have waited...for the mobile chip and better battery life, less heat as well..the N5010 get very warm

can you give us detailed specs on the 9600 radeon card?

what is it clocked at core and memory

you can use several tools to find this out... i use omegadrivers with radlinker

but there are other options that wont force you to switch drivers... sandrasoft will do it, so will ATI tool

do a search for those on google

im interested in how the 3d performance is on this card

you could also download free the 3dmark 03 and 3dmark 01 from futuremark.com

run them at the default settings (dont worry about resolution) and tell us what you get please?

Hey xxhOlywarsxx, I used a sony dsc-f717 to take the pics. But like i said, i didn't have my external flash, so that definitely took away from the pic quality. I just got my new camera (canon EOS-10D), so i plan on taking pics of the setup with my new DSLR . If anyone wants hi-res pics of the N5010 screen, please just reply or email me.

I just bought a n5010 also. I don't have much to add except the machine is wonderful but, tomorrow night I'm installing XP Pro. I'm switching out the hard drive first in case I run into difficulties like maybe the free software won't install in pro or missing drivers on the CD. If anything doesn't work I'll just put the old drive back until I resolve the issue. I can't do without PWS, remote desktop and the ability to join a Windows domain.
