1. Does anyone have any information about the high-cover material that the cover and the palm rest are made of?

2. Is there any way to preserve its shininess?

3. What should I use to clean it with?

4. I noticed a scratch , is there anything I can do about it?

1. No

2. Skin cover, material that mobile gadgets use to cover the display works great

3. A soft micro cloth does wonder in picking up dirt and making it shiny.

4. Depending on the location, many users here use car wax and fine sanding paper combination. I am not sure how it would work out 100%. Personally I use a little wax myself, and NO sandpaper.

I use a microfiber cloth. Should I just ignore the use of chemicals, then?

I use Walmart Vision Center lens cleaner for all my electronic (and glasses!) needs. No alcohol or ammonia in it, so it's safe. Pretty much if you can use it on anti-glare coated polycarb lenses you can use it on everything. I've used it on LCD screens (glossy+matte), glossy plastics, mousepad tiles, etc. with no problems. It does leave a tiny bit of residue that you can see with intense light, but that's why I have 2 clothes...one for wet wiping then one completely dry to follow behind with.
